Corpus Christi Procession and Shortcake Social
- 11:00am
- St. Philip Church
Since Easter fell late (April 20th) this year, the
Solemnities of the Lord Jesus fall later, too.
This week we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost
or The Descent of the Holy Spirit, giving birth
to the Church (June 8th).The following week
(June 11) we celebrate The Feast of The Most
Holy Trinity and on June 22 we celebrate The
Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of
Christ, known in Latin as “Corpus Christi” or
Body of Christ.
Each year we have a Eucharistic Procession on
Corpus Christi. We visit four altars, three of
which are set up outside. We hear four Gospels
concerning the Eucharist. One Gospel comes
from each of the four Evangelists. There is
Benediction for the faithful at each Eucharistic
altar.
It has become our custom to have a
strawberry short-cake social in St. Philip Hall
immediately after the procession. We are in
need of people to help us that day with the
social. If you are willing to help, there is a
sign-up sheet in the Church. In advance, God
bless you for your kind generosity.
