Thursday, November 27, 2025 the country celebrates
Thanksgiving Day. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.
The country has celebrated a “Thanksgiving” from be-
fore its founding, but Abraham Lincoln, our 16th presi-
dent, finalized the day as the last Thursday in November.
Of course, he did this through Congress. One of the
most beautiful proclamations of Thanksgiving Day was
by Connecticut Governor, Wilbur Cross in 1936; as a
matter of fact, a highway is named for him in
Connecticut. The Wilbur Cross Highway which leads
into The Merritt Parkway. Once again Mass will be
celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at St. Catherine Church. Please
bring something from your table to be blessed at the
Mass for your Thanksgiving Day meal. Please place it in
the sanctuary and the blessing will take place after the
