Updates for this year
CLASS TIME:
- Classes for ALL Grades (1-9) will be held from 9:15AM to 10:30AM so that families can attend 10:30 mass together.
Faith Formation Vision
That parents and children be life-long learners as followers of Christ, that they grow to know God and experience His love through prayer, reflection on scripture, the sacraments and as stewards of his Spirit.
What Does This Mean for Us as a Faith Community? Before Jesus ascended into Heaven, He told the Apostles to “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded (Mt 28:19-20).” This is our call too, as a faith community, to teach others about Christ and His message. To that end, the success of the Faith Formation Program will depend upon the time and talent of all community members.
Faith Formation Program Components
Worship: We encourage families to attend Mass at St. Phillip Church at 10:30 AM after the bi-weekly classes from late September through late April/early May – AND ALL YEAR ROUND!
Classroom: The Gospel Weeklies (Gr 1-8) and Decision Point (Gr 9) curricula supplemented by sacrament preparation for Gr 3 (First Reconciliation and First Eucharist) and Gr 9 (Confirmation) with associated activities.
Special Community Activities
Opportunities to celebrate with the Parish as a whole, special events throughout the year as well as participate in group service projects as a faith community.
Important Information
Parents should read all the following expectations for this year’s program:
ALL FAMILIES SHOULD ATTEND MASS REGULARLY – every effort should be made to make Faith a priority. FATHER RON WILL HAVE A FEW SPECIAL MASSES WITH TOPICS FOR FAMILIES (Details to follow).
GRADES 1 through 8 should read and complete their Gospel Weeklies every week, even if there is no class. They should bring their folder to every class. When a new unit is distributed, it should be placed in their folder along with their book entitled “What the Church Believes and Teaches”. Attendance at all classes is important and expected.
CONFIRMATION PREP – weekly homework should be completed on time. Full Class participation and attendance is essential. If a student has more than 2 absences, we may invite them to join the next year’s class for the Sacrament.
WEEKLY UPDATES will be emailed every Thursday with reminders and notification of changes. Please watch your email. To protect your privacy, group emails identify only the group, individuals are blind copied. Please do not ignore these emails.
