Susan “Sue” (Davis) O’Keefe, 55, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts passed away Thursday afternoon at the Rose Monaghan Hospice Home in Worcester, Massachusetts following a five-year battle with cancer. The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, clinicians, and medical professionals who provided her care throughout her journey.

In 1989, she graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and History before receiving a master’s degree in Journalism from Northeastern University in 1992. The early part of her career was spent covering sports for the Hartford Courant and the Boston Herald before transitioning to various editorial and public relations roles in the telecommunications industry. Later in life, her creative energy and passion for crafting could be found in her online craft business which brought joy to many people by way of ornaments, signs, and wreaths.

At a personal level, Sue loved spending time with her family and friends in Rhode Island and Hilton Head Island, SC. She lived and loved by the motto “Choose Joy.” Her early passing helps remind those around her to appreciate the blessings they have and the importance of family. She is survived by her husband Brian O’Keefe and her three amazing daughters, Rachel, Erin, and Lexi Lou (dog), her parents, Edwin T. Davis and Patricia Q. Davis, her two brothers, Edwin W. Davis and Richard M. Davis, and a large extended family.

She will always be remembered as a lifelong UConn basketball and Boston Celtics fan. She loved fuzzy socks, 70s music, Swedish Fish, Diet Coke, and a “good deal.” She was an avid reader and was the mother to eight senior rescue dogs during her life. She gave her time to many community interests, including educational and youth sports organizations.

Those interested in honoring her memory can donate to or volunteer at their local food bank, which was a personal interest of Sue’s in recent years.
